Community Nights at Happy Hippie Customs

There’s a steady rhythm that runs through the shop. Some nights it’s full of conversation and laughter, other nights it’s quieter and more reflective, but the constant is the same. People gathering, creating, and showing up for each other.
Happy Hippie Customs was built to be more than a retail space. It’s a place where community programs, local nonprofits, and everyday creativity all share the same tables. We’re proud to be part of that ecosystem, and even more proud of the organizations we get to work alongside.
🌱 Plant Bingo — Tomorrow Evening
Tomorrow night we’re hosting Plant Bingo, a fundraiser supporting The Care Closet, an organization that provides grocery assistance and essential support to families who rely on school meal programs during the year.
This is one of those events where the shop fills up fast in the best way. It’s lighthearted and fun on the surface, but underneath it directly supports families in our community who are working through real need. That balance matters to us.
If you’re joining us, expect a relaxed evening, a lot of plant talk, and a room full of people who care about showing up for something bigger than themselves. If you want more info, you can click the picture below.
🍽️ Open Table Tuesday — A Consistent Space for Community
Open Table Tuesday is one of the most important things we do.
It’s a weekly gathering where the focus is simple. A shared meal, a place to sit, and a space where nobody has to earn their seat. It exists for anyone who needs it, whether that’s food, conversation, or just a place to be around other people for a while. We also keep a community pantry stocked if anyone needs to grab a few things to help out at home.
This community meal reflects the heart of why the shop exists. Not everything has to be transactional to have value. Sometimes the most important thing is just making sure people are fed and not alone. We have a Facebook Group if you'd like to hear updates and see what's going on here on Tuesday evenings. 🏳️🌈 Community Connection with Lake County Pride
We also host and support meet-ups with Lake County Pride, a local nonprofit focused on creating safe, affirming spaces for LGBTQ+ individuals in our area. On the last Thursday of each month, we host 2 groups. Adults come between 4-6pm, and folks under 18 come between 6-8pm. Both groups are offered to bring a craft they are working on, or purchase one if they'd like.
These gatherings are about visibility, connection, and belonging. For many people, finding a place where they can show up without explanation is not always easy. These meet-ups help create that space in a grounded, welcoming environment.
We’re grateful to be a location where those conversations and connections can happen.

🍫 Candy Bar Bingo — Coming Next Month
Looking ahead, Candy Bar Bingo will be happening next month as another nonprofit fundraiser event.
This one supports Hunt’s Exotics Foundation, an organization focused on animal care and education, especially around exotic animal well-being and responsible stewardship.
It’s a lighter, playful night, but the purpose behind it is real. Supporting animal care, education, and rescue efforts in a way that makes community giving feel accessible and fun. If you'd like more info, click the picture below.
The thread running through all of this is simple. People showing up for each other.
Whether it’s families needing support, individuals looking for a safe space to connect, or efforts to care for animals and local causes, these programs all share the same foundation. Community care works best when it’s consistent, local, and done together.
We’re honored to be a small part of that work, and grateful for everyone who walks through the door and helps make it possible.
